Inspired by the late David Driskell’s landmark 1976 exhibition, “Two Centuries of Black American Art,” the documentary Black Art: In the Absence of Light offers an illuminating introduction to the work of some of the foremost Black visual artists working today. 
 
This is a free screening presented with Indigo Arts Alliance Wednesday, September 8th in Hannaford Hall, 88 Bedford St. on the USM campus in Portland. Doors open at 5:30pm, film starts at 6:30pm.
 
Film preceded by live musical performance by Kafari beginning at 5:45pm and introduction by Indigo Arts Alliance.
 
For COVID safety, attendance will be limited to 50% capacity and masks will be required of all attendees.
